Just outside of Luang Prabang, Laos are some really beautiful and unique waterfalls called Kuang Si. The red clay earth provides a stark contrast to the cascading turquoise water that weaves its way through the forest, down the slow incline.
You enter the park at the bottom of most of the falls. Before getting to the water, there is a Moon bear sanctuary. These rescued bears laze about in swings and terraces. Many of these Moon bears have been rescued from their captors who illegally collect the bear’s bile for use as an ingredient in traditional medicine recipes. These orphaned bears will live the high life from here on out. To find out more information, visit the Free The Bears website.
Wade In The Water
As you slowly work your way up the inclined landscape, you’ll begin hearing and seeing the many waterfalls. Many almost appear like your witnessing some kind of beautiful flood. In many of the ponds of pooling water, you are allowed to wade in the water. The waterfalls get taller and taller as you work up and through the park. You can even hike a trail to the top of the large waterfall.
Just outside of the Kuang Si Water Fall park is the Vanvisa Guesthouse. Its property is at the base of the waterfalls, with small waterfalls running through the premises. It was an extremely tranquil sleep. There was a decent restaurant on the premises. All the guests all had their own bungalow with a front porch. It was a perfect private romantic getaway. Highly recommended.
